21. Swim in the Pacific Ocean.

I don't know why it took me so long to do this one... Okay, actually, that's a lie. I know exactly why. On the scale of plunge-right-in to procrastinate-until-darkness-falls, I'm a statistical outlier making the rest of the wimps look good. In the eternal battle of mind over matter when going into cold water past the knees, my mind has no say in the matter. It's reminiscent of trying to get out of a warm bed on a cold morning for an early hockey practice - my body knows exactly where it would prefer to be, and stubbornly refuses any coy advances that my brain tries to put forward.

That said, I'll eventually go in, given enough time and mockery. Here's proof, even though the photo looks like it was taken in 1974. Trust me, it was a couple weeks ago.

Well that sure explains the Sharktopus insurance!

During that swim, I told Sophie to watch out for Sharktopi. I'm going to try to raise her to think they're real (and fear them), and see how far I can get.

I may have something to say about teaching our daughter that Sharktopuses are real! Personally, I'd like to cultivate a love for the ocean in her, not outright fear.

I can testify that it was recently...I was there! And my poor camera phone is responsible for the '70s effect.
