29. Make a will.

We finally had a will made. It's been on my list for many years, especially for the last three. We didn't really want Sophie to be sold off into slavery, or to be made an indentured servant of the federal government (especially with the Conservatives in power!), or to be forced to work in a coal mine, or whatever nasty thing happens to a kid whose parents have no official will. So we finally just forced ourselves to go through the channels, jump through the hoops, make all the depressing decisions, and pay the even more depressing lawyer bill. And now it's done! Time to cross a tedious task off the list, and move on to something more fun, like life insurance.

Phew! Not a fun process, but a necessary one that I'm glad is over. Just have to gloat and say that my will contains 100% more awesomeness than yours does!

Did you put a haunted house clause in there? Or at least make the beneficiaries watch a video of you reading the will interspersed with rantings and ravings about their various shortcomings?

I was seriously considering the haunted house clause. To make it even more specific, I was thinking I could stipulate that the beneficiaries have to spend the night in a haunted house with Matthew Lillard and a fully CG Great Dane, and at some point, beat them both in an eating contest. I also had grand ideas of having the will consist merely of the first of many elaborate clues which eventually lead to a small buried chest full of chocolate doubloons. I hadn't considered the ranting and raving video reading of the will, but now I wish I had.
