In February, I was laid off due to a cancelled project. This was actually great timing, at least as far as the Olympics were concerned, because I got to see all the events I wanted, and take part in the hustle and bustle of the international crowds and fun extra events that the city was offering. It also gave me the chance to update my resume (yes, both the long master copy and the ready to use copy), and to talk to various friends and contacts in the industry. I ended up finding another job about a month and a half later, and I'm quite enjoying it!
As stressful as losing one's job can be, it wasn't too horrible for me this time around. And the silver lining is that this 101 Things list item got taken care of as a matter of course, rather than by the hard work of updating a resume for no real reason.

I'm so glad you could bum around and enjoy the Olympics with the family! It's also super cool to have you working so close to home so you're not gone so long (and certain of us can take advantage of that fact to go to early morning yoga classes!).
